Volunteer Roles Overview

Set-Up or Take-Down Volunteers
Help bring the event to life and wrap it up at the end of the day. Volunteers support setting up tents, tables, signage, and activity areas, and assist with takedown and pack-out once the event concludes. These are great roles for those who like hands-on work and being part of the behind-the-scenes action.

General Event Volunteers
Keep the event running smoothly by supporting a little bit of everything. Volunteers help with directions, handing out maps, collecting donations, restocking supplies, and stepping in where needed. This flexible role is ideal for those who enjoy variety and interacting with the community. You’ll experience the whole event first hand!

Kids Zone Volunteers
Be part of creating a fun, safe, and welcoming space for families. Volunteers help run crafts, support face painting, and monitor activities like the bouncy castle while keeping things organized and engaging. This role is perfect for those who enjoy working with kids and bringing positive energy.

Specialty Zone Volunteers
Support key feature areas like the Bike Valet, Beer Garden, and both Stages. Roles may include assisting with bike check-in, helping maintain a safe and organized drinks area, or supporting basic stage and AV needs. These positions are great for volunteers who like structured tasks and working as part of a focused team. Please check out the specific requirements for each role before signing up.

Important Information

Volunteering at VWF means being outside in Banfield Park, rain or shine (barring extreme weather). Please dress appropriately for the weather so you can stay comfortable throughout the day. We recommend layers, a hat, sunglasses and comfortable shoes. Breaks will be held inside with access to food and drinks, and we recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.

All volunteers are asked to check in at the Volunteer Tent outside the Community Centre at the start of their shift. You’ll receive detailed information about how to prepare for your volunteer role after you sign up online. We’re hosting a one-hour orientation session on May 30 to help you feel prepared and confident in your role, and will share a summary with those who can’t attend.

As a thank you for your time and support, all volunteers will receive a 10% off coupon to Big Wheel Burger. Volunteers are also eligible for a letter of appreciation confirming the hours you contributed. If you have any questions at any point, please don’t hesitate to reach out to volunteer@victoriawest.ca
