Lawrence's Drive for a Cure

Victoria, BC – June 23, 2026

As the cost of living continues to weigh on Victoria families, a one-of-a-kind shopping experience is returning to Market Square with thousands of quality finds — priced from just $5. Second Hand Hope, a social enterprise of Soap for Hope Canada, opens its Summer Pop-Up in the lower courtyard at Market Square from Tuesday, July 21 to Sunday, July 26, 2026.

From Chanel eyeglasses and vintage Vancouver Canucks jerseys to wedding dresses and designer accessories, the items on offer aren’t your average thrift store finds. Every piece is an unclaimed Lost & Found treasure collected through Soap for Hope Canada’s partnerships with more than 60 hotels across British Columbia and Alberta — with everyday essentials starting at $5 and designer pieces available at a fraction of their original price.

Second Hand Hope is the only store of its kind in Canada, transforming unclaimed hotel items into funding for programs that help eradicate hygiene poverty. Every purchase supports Soap for Hope Canada’s mission to provide essential hygiene products to vulnerable individuals and families, while keeping valuable items out of the landfill.

What to Expect

Unique Lost & Found treasures from leading hotels: clothing, accessories and specialty items

Affordable prices starting at $5 — with items for every budget, from everyday essentials to designer finds

Upcycled organic soap and personal care products

Fun activities and special promotions every day

An opportunity to support a local charity through every purchase

Lawrence's Drive for a Cure

Lawrence’s Drive for a Cure is more than a golf tournament, it’s a daughter turning loss into impact.

After losing her father to a rare cancer, Alexia Greco is bringing our community together to fund research that could change everything for families facing the same fight.

We have generated awareness through some PR, but our focus is now on reaching out to community members who are golfers (passionate about the sport) and the impact they can have by attending this event or those that can support by donating.

My Great Neighbourhood Grants

The My Great Neighbourhood Grant program helps residents bring their ideas to life and strengthen connections where they live. Whether you’re looking to build community, enhance a public space or lead a new community building initiative, these grants support projects that make neighbourhoods more vibrant, resilient and inclusive.

Applications are now open for 2026. For all the details and to apply please visit My Great Neighbourhood GrantIf you have any questions email neighbourhoods@victoria.ca.

Victoria Half Multisport Festival Recruiting Volunteers

The Behavioural Medicine Lab, at the University of Victoria, is conducting a study examining how to support physical activity among people who are transitioning to retirement, a life stage that can bring significant changes and challenges for many. As part of this study, participants will use a web-based platform or mobile app designed to support them in building and maintaining healthy, active lifestyles during this transition. We would greatly appreciate your help in reaching more people at this stage of their lives!
We are currently recruiting participants in Victoria aged 60-70 years old who have retired within the past 1.5 years. To be eligible, participants should be engaging in less than 2.5 hours of physical activity per week and have access to the internet.
For more information or to participate please contact Sandy at: bml@uvic.ca
