Vic West Coolkit

The VicWest Coolkit Group is a small, inclusive, and growing group of VicWest neighbours who gather to imagine, discuss, and implement localized family-friendly climate action efforts within our community.

We are action-oriented, and supported by the VicWest Community Association Parks and Environment Committee.

Our current projects include organizing a native tree giveaway and hosting a regular community meetup to remove invasive species from Banfield Park.

You can connect with us at vicwestcoolkit@mumbo.ca  and we hope you’ll join us at one of our events soon.

Sustainability Fair | Sat. Sept 19, 10:00am-3:00pm

VicWest Coolkit will have a booth at the first VWCA Sustainability Fair! Join us in Banfield Park outside the community center (521 Craigflower Rd) from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, September 19th! Other vendors in the market include upcycled clothing and jewlery, handmade felted and stitched crafts, and local food vendors. All the details about what to expect are on the Sustainability Fair page.

Parents4Climate will be hosting a craft for children and makers of all ages! Drop by to make a felted flower from wool roving, soap and water. These beautiful crafts are made from 100% natural materials and will eventually decompose and return to the earth if allowed to break down.

Science Educator, Kay, from Build-A-Brain will be hosting three 20-minute, hands-on workshops for kids 5 and up. Come learn all about the many wonderous insects, fungus, plants and bacteria that make up our soil and learn firsthand how important soil health is to our gardens, parks and homes.

Invasive Species Pull | Sun. Sept 13 & Sat. Oct 24, 10:00am-12:00pm

Join your neighbours to help keep Banfield beautiful and flourishing! Meet the VicWest Coolkits team down by the Banfield Docks near Styles St and Selkirk St. All supplies will be provided. This is a family-friendly, all ages event.

We are grateful to be on these lands and we endeavour in our work and lives to minimize the harm perpetuated by our presence on this land.
