MUSIC LINE-UP
12:30pm: Sharon

Once upon a time there were three sharp young lads from Oklahoma by the names of Shane, Marlowe and Leo. One day, whilst playing with their teleportation device, Leo invited this rockin’ gal, Sharon, to join them, but something went terribly wrong. When they teleported, not only did they teleport to Victoria BC, but they seemed to have absorbed Sharon’s atoms into their bodies. Now, to avenge Sharon’s absorption, they started a rock band. And they have been playing ever since.

1:30pm: Sofia Sol Trio

Sofia Sol, also known as Gabriela Dominguez in her community can be described as a flowy musical flower drifting through the ethers.

Her style is heavily influenced by soul, jazz and RnB. Originally from Colombia, she’s been singing all her life and in Victoria for the past 3 years. Singing a repertoire  originals as well as a few covers, her soulful voice will send you into a lovely little trance.

She will be accompanied by Wes Carroll; a local musician known for his amazing skills on guitar, bass and vocals, as well as Nicolas Marquez, a local percussionist bringing a Latin flair also originally from Colombia

2:30pm: Lady Phyl

Canadian sultry soul singer/songwriter Lady Phyl, daughter to musician/music producer Joby Baker, grew up in a musical family where funk, soul, r&b, and jazz fusion was always being played. Born to two young artistic parents, led to an unconventional upbringing of sleeping under drink tables at house jam parties, staying up way past bedtime in the front row of concerts, and being lulled to sleep by every type of music in her fathers studio. It’s no surprise that by the time she was 6 years old she was writing and co-producing her own music, rapping on stage in front of 1000 people at 9, and was busking, gigging, and playing in bands by the age of 11. Over the years she has worked alongside her father, doing backup vocals and features for countless artists in styles ranging from new-age music, to soul, folk, pop, and more. Throughout her life she has been inspired by nearly every genre, but r&b, hip hop, and Soul is where she feels most at home. Artists like Erykah Badu, D’angelo, Little Dragon, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Slum Village, are a few artists that she looks to constantly for inspiration. Though she has never had any proper musical training, this complete immersion into music is where her strength, and creativity as an artist comes from.

3:45pm: Ranger

Ranger is an independent Soft Rock/Soul band featuring singer-songwriter Shane Ranger on lead vocals and guitar. Bahamas and Leon Bridges inspired, Ranger offers smooth uncluttered melodies, and thoughtful, textural instrumentation. Addressing themes such as love and forgiveness, Ranger delivers emotional resonance and love-sick sincerity while spanning from laid back and tender storytelling, to energetic and wild duelling guitar solos.

5:00pm: Wes Carroll Confabulation

The Wes Carroll Confabulation walks the tight-rope, balancing detailed arrangements with the power of spontaneity. Since 2015, they have honed their unique blend: stretching out into a world of hip-hop grooves, soul and electricity while not losing their jazz footing. Their set blends singer-songwriter and instrumental with themes that include social justice, surveillance, mental health, climate change, and zany humour. The Confab has returned to Victoria BC as Wes has finished his Masters in Jazz Performance at the University of Toronto. They are currently recording their third studio album set to be released in the fall of 2023
